ANME launches LGBT+ association

The ANME is proud to launch the Association of LGBT+ Pride in Education (ALPE).

LGBT+ related concerns and issues can be tough to deal with at the best of times, but infinitely worse in various ways when working in education.

Since the ANME formed, it has met some members that are in the LGBT+ community, and who have welcomed the idea of having a dedicated and anonymous Portal catering specifically for LGBT+ teachers and support staff in education.

The ALPE provides this private and anonymous portal, in which members are able to discuss issues and concerns with colleagues from other schools, secure in the knowledge that they cannot be identified – unless they want to be.

The ALPE is free to join, and is open to all teachers and support staff working in schools, colleges, and universities, in all sectors – state, academies, independent and free schools.

“Having an online support group such as the ALPE is a much needed place for the benefit of anyone who’s LGBT+ working in education. It gives a space to raise questions, issues and to get guidance from others in a safe, non-judgemental and welcoming environment, all without fear of discrimination or prejudice”

Ellie Lincoln ANME member and ALPE founding member

The ANME invites all LGBT+ teachers and support staff in schools and colleges across the UK to join the ALPE here, and help develop it into a bespoke support group for LGBT+ staff in education.
