Briar Hill Primary School, part of the David Ross Education Trust (DRET), won the Tes Schools Award at the Grosvenor Hotel in London on Friday 17 June
Leaders from Briar Hill, which is also rated as one of the best schools in Northampton for outcomes and the second-best school in Northamptonshire by the Good Schools Guide, made it clear that making sure pupils are happy at school is a priority.
It was a special evening for the school, which Judge Dame Alison Peacock praised as being a “warm, welcoming and loving school”.
Briar Hill staff see it is “more than a school”, understanding that their impact extends beyond the classroom and into the everyday life of the community. Briar Hill educates hearts and minds and all pupils and staff love the school.
Results are equally important to the school and they continue to improve year on year despite already being high performing, with results consistently above average.
Principal of Briar Hill Primary School, Janey Cooksley, said: “Winning this award means the absolute world. The children in our community go above and beyond every day. We believe that every child deserves the very best”.
Stuart Burns, CEO of the David Ross Education Trust (DRET), commented: “We are all incredibly proud to see the hard work and commitment of staff and students at Briar Hill Primary School recognised nationally”.
