As reported by The Telegraph, schools could be in their right to request refunds from exam boards due to student result delays
More than 1,000 BTEC students were subjected to delayed results, hindering their plans for higher education.
“Schools pay a fortune in costs [to the exam boards]. I think if they don’t get their act together they should look at funding being refunded,” says Robert Halfon, chairman of the education select committee.
While Pearson has issued an apology and Ofqua, the regulator, reiterated their goal to get to the bottom of the issue, Halfon has requested both to appear before the education select committee to find a solution.
“We understand that this situation has been very difficult for students and their families. We will be undertaking a detailed review into this awarding series. Starting in September, we will be seeking input and feedback from students, schools, colleges and the wider education community. We look forward to working with all our stakeholders to identify improvements to future awarding cycles,” says a Pearson spokesperson.
