The Procurement Bill completed its journey through the UK parliament on 26 October 2023, officially becoming the Procurement Act 2023, a crucial milestone in the overhaul of the UK procurement law regime
While the Act won’t take effect until October 2024, it introduces several changes aimed at simplifying the procurement regulatory framework and procedures.
Understanding procurement regulations is paramount for School Business Leaders (SBLs) tasked with managing budgets and resources. To assist SBLs in navigating the procurement landscape effectively, Lorraine Ashover will be taking to the stage to share her wealth of knowledge and expertise at EdExec Live.
As the Director of Minerva Procurement Consultancy Services Limited, Lorraine specialises in dissecting common procurement challenges and providing strategies to overcome them. Her seminar will also focus on mitigating risks associated with procurement challenges.
Lorraine founded Minerva in 2010 to address the needs of the school bursar community, helping schools reduce costs, streamline procurement practices, and save time. With prior experience at Barclays Commercial for 20 years, including seven as an industry specialist in the education sector, Lorraine brings plenty of experience to the table.
The presentation, titled ‘Procurement challenges and how to overcome them,’ will be on the agenda at all three events, offering SBLs a chance to get expert advice ahead of the Act coming into effect.
The Procurement Act 2023 aims to make public procurement “more flexible, transparent, efficient, and competitive, while delivering value for money and public benefit,” according to the government. With these changes set to significantly impact the education sector, Lorraine’s insightful advice will provide a welcome boost to SBLs’ confidence.
