As reported by UPI, Vapiano, the German restaurant chain, reunited 465 couples to break the Guinness World Record for the most people simultaneously eating a single strand of spaghetti, sealing it with the iconic “Italian Kiss” within 30 seconds
Vapiano originally set the record in 2020 to celebrate a new dish called “Italian Kiss,” which is a term for when two people share a single strand of pasta until it either breaks or ends with the eaters’ lips touching.
The Italian kiss was brought into popular culture in a famous scene from 1955 Disney film Lady and the Tramp.
Vapiano’s record was later broken by a group of 433 couples and the chain decided to take it back with the help of 465 couples gathered at the Tempelhof airport hangar in Berlin.
The record required each spaghetti strand consumption to end in a kiss, and the couples had to complete the process within 30 seconds of starting.
