Bradford primary school secures Leading Parent Partnership Award

Wilsden Primary School has been commended for its work in partnership with all parents and carers

A Bradford-based primary school has been awarded the coveted Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) this year in recognition of its commitment to involving parents and carers in the way the school is run, and their children’s learning.

The Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) is a nationally recognised accreditation supporting schools who deliver effective parental engagement, the award provides schools with a valuable framework for continued improvement.

Wilsden Primary School began its journey after seeing the true value in parental engagement through its own practices.

LLP commented in their report that the school demonstrated “many strengths” with regard to parent partnership and that Wilsden’s communication methods were reported to be “effective and really embrace and utilise modern technology”.

As part of these improvements, Wilsden Primary School has introduced a new system to support students who have joined the school part way through the year, this system will support both the parent and the child in the transition.

The school will now hold the LPPA accreditation for a period of three years.

Commenting on the school’s journey, Head of School Andrew Chadwick, said: “We have found the LPPA to be an excellent drive for our work with parents.

“Along the journey we have picked up some great new ideas and developed systems in school further.

“Recently a parent commended the school on our parental engagement, which they commented was already at a good starting point and has gone from strength to strength during this time.

“We’re always searching for ways to improve as a school, looking to the future, we want to further develop the use of curriculum newsletters to ensure parents have a detailed understanding of what their children are learning.”

Wilsden Primary School forms part of the Focus-Trust – a charitable primary schools trust which is based in the Northwest of England and West Yorkshire with a vision of providing great schools at the heart of communities where children thrive, achieve and succeed.
