Seminar brief:Many schools are examining their workforce through a diversity lens and thinking about how to effect change. Rather than making knee-jerk token appointments this seminar will look at how to develop a strategy that meets the needs of your setting.
In this seminar Cheryl Campbell will explore:
Key metrics to understand the context of your school.
Areas to include in a strategy.
How to monitor and review the strategy on a regular basis.
Delegates are invited to share their experiences and challenges in the context of their own settings and examine what they want to achieve. The session will open discussion about which practices might be indirectly disadvantaging particular groups of people.

About the speaker:
Cheryl founded ABBLed (Association of BAME Business Leaders in Education) in 2020; an organisation committed to raising the profile of the SBL profession whilst specifically amplifying the voices of existing BAME SBLs and encouraging new entrants to the profession to create a more diverse workforce.
In her day job she’s been the school business, finance and operations director at Thomas Tallis School in South East London since September 2019. It is a maintained secondary school with over 2000 pupils on roll which includes a 6F of over 700 pupils.
At university she studied HRM and Business Law. She later went on to do a Post Graduate Diploma in HRM, a level 7 qualification which allowed her to become CIPD qualified. When she decided to change careers she completed the CSBM.
As well as starting ABBLed in 2020, the highlights of her SBL journey so far have been winning an Emerging Leaders Scholarship from ASBO International and attending their conference in Maryland (USA), being shortlisted for the TES SBL of the Year 2020 award then going on to win the 2021 award this year and receiving an ISBL CEO Award 2020 for contribution to School Business Leadership.
