As reported by BBC News, It has been said that some Year 6 Sats papers have gone missing and others have been marked incorrectly
The results should have been fully marked last week but some are yet to be returned. According to the government, those missing are being investigated and 99% of pupils have received their results.
The marking organisation, Capita, has announced that less than 3,800 scripts are currently flagged as missing.
Capita commented: “a very small number of scripts, fewer than 0.1% of the total, are currently flagged as missing”.
The National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) has called on the government to be open and clear about how many pupils have been affected.
The NAHT said: “It looks like it could be in the thousands based on what we’re seeing, but that’s precisely what we need government to be clear about”.
Headteacher at Bishop Wilson Church of England Primary School in Birmingham, Des Ricketts, has said 14 out of 59 of his Year 6 pupils were still missing their results.
“It is deeply unfair to all of these children who have worked so hard and deserve to know how well they did. This will also impact on their progress in secondary schools,” Mr Ricketts said.
Paul Whiteman, the NAHT’s general secretary, commented that the situation was “deeply worrying”.
“School staff all play their part, take it seriously and do exactly what is expected – and the penalties for mistakes are severe”.
The Sats results show that overall standards in reading, writing and maths have declined since the COVID pandemic.
