It’s like you’re always stuck in second gear

In recent weeks, Laura Williams has been discussing our mental diets—specifically, what we watch, read, and think—and how these elements impact our well-being. However, there’s another crucial factor to consider: the people we surround ourselves with

Our lives are filled with human interactions but in truth, the majority don’t have a lasting effect on our state of mind.

However, there are some people in our lives, special people – who by just being around them makes us feel like we can do anything.

They bring us strength.

They make us smile.

They motivate us.

And I don’t just mean that they say motivating things (because you can grab a quote a day calendar for that!) but when they say something, their belief transfers into you, it somehow empowers you to be more and have the follow-through you need to make magic happen.

Who are those people for you?

Who are the people in your life that make you feel like the superhero SBL you are and help you push through when things are less than perfect?

Motivational speaker Jim Rohn once said, “You’re the average of the five people that you spend the most time with.”

And while some might not be your personal choice (you may spend more time with certain staff members than you would consider ideal!) you do get to choose in your downtime!

Make a point of surrounding yourself with those who lift you up and inspire you to keep your mental diet as healthy as possible! And if you can, dial down the time you spend with those who bring you nothing but headaches.

Whether you’re finding your motivation through SBL community events or spending time with someone in your circle, block that time in the calendar and protect it all costs.

It’s an investment in your wellbeing that your future self will be so grateful for.
