ICAPE report on primary education

As reported by the NEU, Kevin Courtney looks forward to new government’s engagement with the ICAPE report

Commenting on the new report by the Independent Commission on Assessment in Primary Education (ICAPE), Kevin Courtney, joint general secretary of the National Education Union, said:

“The union is pleased to have played a role in establishing ICAPE and welcomes its findings. Our members have long been concerned that England’s primary assessment system is out-of-date and educationally harmful. It is plain that these concerns are increasingly shared by parents and in the policy community. The new Government has the chance to rethink its policies, so that they are receptive to evidence and experience. We look forward to their engagement with the ICAPE report.”
